WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-This summer’s New York International Gift Fair will mark the start of phase three of the trade show’s multiyear strategic reorganization.
This phase will involve the repositioning of three product divisions—Baby & Child, Handmade Global Design and New York’s Newest—to new locations in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, one of the NYIGF venues along with Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94. It will also include the second presentation of the Gourmet Housewares Show and the introduction of Artisan Resource, a new complementary trade show unveiled in January and featuring international artisanal product manufacturers, which will run alongside the Gift Fair.
At the summer show, Handmade Global Design will move to the Javits Center’s Level 4 Galleria and River Pavilion from Hall 1D. Baby & Child will move to Hall 1D from Hall 1E. New York’s Newest will relocate to the Javits Center from Pier 92.
The reorganization, titled “Focus Forward 2013,” began in summer 2010. At its completion in the summer of 2013, the Gift Fair will be organized into four comprehensive market collections: NYIGF Home, NYIGF Lifestyle, NYIGF Handmade and NYIGF New.
“This series of divisional relocations is strategic and purposeful, and will strengthen category adjacencies across NYIGF,” said Christian Falkenberg, vice president of Gift Fair show owner and manager GLM, who recently was named NYIGF’s manager. “The ultimate goal is creation of four distinct market collections which offer buyers a navigable and efficient shopping experience.”
