Significant International Presence Slated for Surtex
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-About 30 percent of the 300 exhibitors at this May's Surtex will be from abroad, according to a statement from GLM, owner and manager of the surface-design trade show.
As of yesterday, exhibitors from the United Kingdom, France, Canada, The Netherlands, Japan, Spain, India, Martinique, Italy, El Salvador and South Korea have taken exhibit space at the show. Penny Sikalis, the show's manager and vice president of GLM, said she expects exhibitors from other countries will come on board by the time the show opens. Surtex is scheduled for May 15-17 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
In addition, Sikalis said, 28 percent of the exhibitors who have already signed on are first-timers to Surtex. The show is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The show's schedule includes a Design Forum breakfast on May 17. A panel of eight design experts will speak on the topic, "America Embraces Design...Finally." This session will also honor a group of designers who have been trailblazers in surface design, the GLM statement said.
