NY Now to Present Slate of Seminars, Special Events, Displays and Awards
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-The winter edition of NY Now, scheduled for this coming February, will offer six days of educational seminars, special events, displays and product awards.
The programming for the show, which is owned and managed by GLM, will include sessions on design and color trends, online retailing and social media, emerging consumer preferences and importing. On the event schedule will be the Gift For Life's fundraiser and a "Night on Broadway" featuring "Motown: The Musical."
The NY Now seminar series complements the show's four product collections: Handmade, Home, Lifestyle and New. The Handmade seminar series includes several "power hour" retailer sessions offered by the Craft Retailers' Association for Tomorrow, covering social media and content marketing, marketing and advertising. In addition, as part of GLM's Artisan Resource trade show, which will run concurrently with NY Now, daily "Importing 101" sessions will be presented.
For the Home section, the seminars will include two presented by Tom Mirabile, contributing editor of Pantone View and senior vice president of global trend and design for Lifetime Brands, which will be "Home + Lifestyle Forecast: Styles + Trends for 2014 + Beyond" on Feb. 2, and "Consumer Preference Forecast: Myths & Realities About Today's Shoppers" on Feb. 3. Also, display and design expert Paul Thompson will present a two-part visual merchandising series hosted by ART (The Creative Home Furnishings Network), dealing with store interiors (Feb. 1) and windows and exterior signage (Feb. 2). The International Furnishings & Design Association will present "What Color Is Your Future? Trends in Color & Design" on Feb. 3.
The Lifestyle track will feature "Opening Doors to the Spa & Wellness Market--Expand Your Revenue!" presented by the Day Spa Association on Feb. 1. The New section will offer "The Future of Retail--What's Now? What's Next?" on Feb. 4, previewing new technologies that are changing buyer behaviors. IR Focus will present two sessions on online retail: "Ready, Set, Grow: 5 Steps to Start Selling Online" on Feb. 3, and "E-Commerce Strategy--From Launch to Long-term Growth" on Feb. 4. This section will also include two workshops, both titled "Facebook: Live from NY," which will be hands-on tutorials for crafting a presence on the social-networking site.
The special product displays slated for the winter NY Now will be the Made in the USA display of handmade and factory-produced products made in this country, and the SustainAbility: design for a better world display of eco-friendly and socially responsible gift and home products.
Best New Product Awards will be given in the Baby + Child, Personal Care + Wellness, Home Textiles and Gourmet Products categories.
The winter NY Now will run from Feb. 1-6 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.
