NY Now Preregistration Up 11 Percent
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-Preregistration for the upcoming NY Now show, scheduled for Feb. 1-6, has increased 11 percent from the same time one year ago, according to a statement from show owner and manager GLM.
Through the end of last week, more than 31,000 individuals representing 22,000 businesses from the United States and around the world had registered to attend the market. Christian Falkenberg, GLM senior vice president and the show's director, said registration has been steady, and the show experienced a spike in retailer activity after the conclusion of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Falkenberg added that GLM expects several thousand more attendees to preregister in the time remaining until NY Now opens.
A majority of the businesses registered to date are established retail enterprises, ranging from brick-and-mortar companies to online and cart/kiosk retailers. Geographically, all 50 U.S. states are represented, along with more than 50 countries. "One in every three winter 2014 market preregistrants are from outside the region, making NY Now a national market as well as an international marketplace," Falkenberg said.
He added that about 1,500 of the preregistrants are first-time attendees, who GLM plans to welcome by way of a series of premarket webinars, onsite seminars and at-market newcomers' lunches to help orient them to the show.
NY Now registration is free for qualified retailers through Jan. 28 at 11:59 p.m. After that date, registration costs $60 to qualified buyers. Online registration is accessible at nynow.com/register.
