New York Home Fashions Market Opens
NEW YORK-The second of this year's two New York Home Fashions Markets formally opens today.
Among some of the new developments in decorative bedding, WestPoint Home is adding to its two most recent brand launches, Modern Living and Portico Home. Revman has slated additions to its broad offering of licensed brands, especially in its Steve Madden and Nautica collections, the latter of which the company assumed before the textiles market in March. Alok International will be unveiling its first collection under its Caribbean Joe license, which the company announced last month, and has taken a second showroom at 7 W New York, room 731, in addition to its space in room 607 of the same building.
In basic bedding, Hollander has made a significant addition to its brand lineup with its launch of the Lauren Ralph Lauren collection of basic bedding (see separate newsletter story). The company has also relocated its showroom to 440 Park Ave. South here.
Marking what the company called "a new era in pillows," Pacific Coast Feather is launching a number of proprietary designs in bed pillows this week. These include the new Excell line, which includes the Excell Curvation with contouring chambers to shape the head and neck, and the Excell Won't Go Flat density pillows in medium, firm and extra-firm densities. Pacific Coast Feather is also expanding its collection under its own name and its Sheex pillow lineup.
Safavieh will introduce more than 150 designs this week, including 10 new rug collections and 50 new decorative pillows. Among the introductions are four handknotted Tibetan collections, woven in India in abstract patterns and tribal motifs; an expansion of its flatweave collections, including new sumak, dhurrie, stripe and Navajo patterns; and a 3-D shag collection, with pile heights in three dimensions. Safavieh will serve breakfast and lunch daily beginning today through Sept. 13 in its showroom.
In the 7 W New York building, there will be 16 additional companies exhibiting this market. The new permanent showrooms are: Sam Salem & Son (suite 500), Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. (suite 515), Anand International (suite 714), Shanghai Sunwin Industry Col/I-baby (suite 822), Alkaram USA (suite 839) and Nishat Mills USA (suite 933). Also later today, Oriental Weavers will be celebrating its new New York showroom at 295 Fifth Avenue with a "Take a Bite out of the Big Apple" themed grand opening party, from 4-7 p.m. Located in suite #719, Oriental Weavers will give away iPads, iTouchs and other Apple products every 30 minutes during the party and will serve signature "Big Appletinis," cocktails, wine and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
