Meinzinger, Creative Bath Founder, Dies
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.-Mathias "Mat" Meinzinger, founder and chairman of Creative Bath Products, died of pancreatic cancer on Oct. 31. He was 74.
A native of Hungary, Meinzinger founded Creative Bath in 1973. He served as president until last month, when he became chairman and Bob Weiss, vice president of sales and marketing, was named president. In 1997, Meinzinger was named Long Island's Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year.
In a statement, Weiss described Meinzinger as "the most interesting, creative, compassionate, thoughtful executive I ever had the pleasure of working with and learning from. Everyone here at Creative Bath Products is committed to keeping Mat's legacy and dreams alive for years to come and is thankful for his leadership and friendship."
Meinzinger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Christa; a brother, Joseph; two sisters, Theresa Baumann and Veronica Penka; and nieces and nephews. Donations on behalf of Meinzinger can be made to the Lustgarden Foundation, an organization that raises funds for research in pancreatic cancer.
