WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-Surtex has set the slate of judges for its designext international student design competition for 2014.
The judges are Dorothy Cosonas, creative director of Knoll Textiles and Knoll Luxe; David Laubach, director of design for Avanti Press; Bonnie Mackay, principal of BMackay Consulting; and Susanne Martinez, vice president of design and product development for Sferra Fine Linens. They will convene on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 to view and score more than 100 entries from design schools around the world.
They will select four winners whose work will be displayed at Surtex, which will take place from May 18-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. One grand prize winner will be named and will receive a cash award of $1,000.
This year’s designext theme is “Street Inspiration.” Participating students have been asked to submit original surface designs inspired by what they believe will be the “street influences” in the year 2020.
