History Uncovered

Historical American and European quilts that have rarely been seen in public will be on view next month at the Brooklyn Museum. Open from March 15 through Sept. 15, “Workt by Hand” looks at the social history aspect of quilting, and includes works that span two centuries of quilt making. Some of the featured quilts include symbols of the American Revolution, while others use vibrantly colored textiles that were newly affordable at the time of the quilt’s making, such as this Crazy Quilt,  circa 1880.
