FRANKFURT, Germany—The 2011 Heimtextil trade show has opened and has logged a five percent increase in its exhibitor total, according to a statement from Messe Frankfurt, the show’s owner and manager.
In a Messe Frankfurt statement, Detlef Braun, member of the company’s management board, said 2,601 companies from 60 countries are exhibiting at the show this week. The show began yesterday and will run through Jan. 15. “Our impression is that the (textiles) sector has gained new confidence in its own economic strength, innovativeness and creativity from the experience of the past year,” Braun said.
Among the highlights of Heimtextil is the focus on sustainability, with the first appearance of the “Green Directory,” a guide to exhibitors with environmentally friendly products and business practices. The presentations being offered this week cover the contract-textiles business, future trends and young and up-and-coming designers and product developers.
