NEW YORK-Two New York International Gift Fair programs connected with the show’s SustainAbility: design for a better world will recognize exemplary eco-friendly and socially responsible products seen at the August show.
The Eco Choice Awards, which are co-sponsored by NYIGF and GREENRetailer magazine, will hold online, paperless balloting to determine the winners in three categories: “Most Innovative,” “Most Sensitive Use of Materials” and “Most Sellable.” Twenty-four finalists have been selected as finalists for the awards, and will be vying for these honors through Aug. 8. The winners will be announced at the Gift Fair and will be profiled in the fall 2012 issue of Gift Shop magazine.
Also, seven products have been designated as achieving the Gift Fair’s highest Degrees of SustainAbility status. These are Alegria for the Golden Grass Handbag, Annieglass for its Holiday Collection, ARTICLE 22::PEACEBOMB + CLIFF BELTS for Spoon Herb Garden Markers, Dandelion for Re-Play Toddler Tableware, Ecojot for Quote Jumbo Journals, Handmade Expressions for Scents from India All Natural Soaps and Sea Stones for Drink Chillers. These products will be identified with special signage while on display at NYIGF.
In addition, GLM, owner and manager of the Gift Fair, has partnered with HAND/EYE Fund to extend the promotion of the launch of its Artisanal Resource section to readers of HAND/EYE magazine. The fund is an independent, international organization which supports skilled artisans.
Artisanal Resource will debut at NYIGF next month, located in Pier 92 of the Passenger Ship Terminal in New York City. It will offer U.S.-based volume importers, direct-import retailers and wholesalers the opportunity to meet with international artisanal producers.
