WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–Attendance at last week’s New York International Gift Fair rose by more than 10 percent over the total at last year’s winter NYIGF, according to a statement from GLM, the show’s owner and manager.
Nearly 35,000 people attended the market, representing all 50 U.S. states and 86 countries, GLM said. Exhibitor numbers were also higher than at last winter’s show, with four show divisions—At Home, Handmade, Personal Accessories featuring Details and EX-TRACTS—all at full capacity.
In addition, the number of exhibitors in the Baby & Child section, which debuted last summer, increased by 15 percent over the summer NYIGF. New York’s Newest, which was re-established at the summer Gift Fair, reported a 10 percent gain in exhibitors.
Dorothy Belshaw, director of NYIGF and GLM senior vice president, said the main fuel in attendance came during the first three days of the show. While attendance was dampened somewhat by the New York area snowstorms in the middle of the week, Belshaw said buying remained “brisk” throughout the show.
