Chicago Market to Hold Seminars Geared Toward Buyer Education

CHICAGO-The Chicago Market, scheduled for July 19-25, has readied a lineup of seminars targeted at providing attendees with up-to-date information on trends in buying.
On July 21, Traci Tarquinio, director of merchandising for SnapRetail, will present "Selling Online: 6 Tips for Getting Started," which will offer the pros and cons of various e-commerce options and the best practices for online selling. On July 22, Tarquinio will also host "A Perfect Match: Integrating Social Media & Email Marketing to Increase Foot Track," which will provide information on creating a marketing plan using email and social media. Also on the 22nd, "Counter Intelligence," detailing a plan for meeting competition from online and big-box retailers developed by Britton Marketing, will be presented by Britton Marketing's Susan and Jeff Britton and Christy Spencer.
A panel discussion titled "Be a Better Buyer: Everything You Need to Know to Purchase Like a Pro," offering tips on how retailers can make the most of their buying budgets, will take place on July 23. Also on that day, Diane Falanga, author of "P.S. I Hate It Here" and "P.S.: I Still Hate It Here"--two collections of children's letters from summer camp--will speak on the basics of partnering with local retailers to sell books and sign copies of the latter book in "Partnering with Local Authors: A Winning Story."
