CARSON, Calif.-Brentwood Originals has invested more than $1 million to acquire new filling equipment for its decorative pillows, and is joining the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders Small Business Network to further its commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing.
The company's new machines will be installed in its manufacturing locations in California, Mississippi and Ohio over the next year. The machines use reduced energy in the process of filling the pillow shells with polyester fiber, and will result in improved efficiencies and an enhanced appearance for the products, according to a statement from Loren Sweet, Brentwood's president and chief executive officer.
Becoming a member of the Climate Leaders Small Business Network will commit the company to reducing its carbon footprint, and will allow Brentwood to establish a baseline of its current carbon footprint, Sweet said.
Through these efforts, "we can continue to gain market share and insure our viability as a strong partner in the retail community," Sweet said.
