Bombay Home Brand to be Relaunched

NEW YORK-Hermes-Otto International, owner of the Bombay Co. brand, has reached an agreement with The Wildflower Group, a licensing and branding agency, to offer a line of home furnishings branded under Bombay.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wildflower will expand the Bombay brand into a program that will encompass kitchen textiles, home office products, fabric and upholstery, flooring, home storage/organization products, seasonal decor, bathroom fixtures, luggage/travel accessories, men's and women's gifts, and other categories. Currently, Bombay-branded products from Powell Furniture and JLA Home Fashions are available at retail. In 2014, home decor collections from Lifetime Brands and products from Arden Cos. will be introduced.
Bombay was founded in 1978 as a mail-order retailer, which later grew into a chain of more than 450 specialty stores and more than $500 million in annual sales. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2007, and its properties and intellectual assets were then sold to Gordon Brothers and Hilco Consumer Capital, which launched Bombay Brands in 2008. Hermes-Otto purchased the brand and its assets from Gordon Brothers and Hilco in 2011.
