Measuring 11,600 square feet, the new facility houses artists, designers and craftspeople who design and develop West Elm products. The seven-plus studios at this location provide independent and flexible work spaces for all disciplines, ranging from a colorist dye shop and weaving room to a carpentry workshop and three-dimensional modeling space.
Tomorrow, the Makers Studio will offer guided tours and conduct special programs led by the West Elm design team during the second annual Industry City open studio event.
Noting that West Elm, now part of the Williams-Sonoma portfolio of brands, “was born and bred in Brooklyn,” Jim Brett, the brand’s president, added, “The Makers Studio promotes design creativity and collaboration and furthers our commitment to the Brooklyn community we are lucky to call home.”
