Pyrex Parties in Pennsylvania
CHARLEROI, Pa.–Charleroi, Pa., has been temporarily renamed Pyrex, Pa., in honor of the Pyrex’s 100th birthday.
Charleroi Mayor Mark Alterici, World Kitchen CEO Carl Warschausky and Pyrex Brand Lead Mike Scheffki serve pancakes.
Charleroi has been producing Pyrex products for more than half a century and in honor of that, Pyrex parent World Kitchen and the Pyrex brand team recently hosted a celebration for employees, retirees and residents. Charleroi residents were treated to a pancake breakfast, live entertainment, interactive photo booth, product giveaways and a look at the World’s Largest Measuring Cup.
Carl Warschausky, president and CEO of World Kitchen, who helped serve the pancakes, said, “We consider the Charleroi employees the heart and soul of the Pyrex brand. Their hard work and dedication to the brand does not go unnoticed. Now is a time to celebrate and give thanks to the employees who truly exemplify our brand and serve as the ultimate testament to who we are.”
The Charleroi event officially kicks off a mobile tour honoring Pyrex products in America that will travel across the country this summer celebrating 100 years. The World’s Largest Measuring Cup, unveiled at the International Home + Housewares Show in March and verified by Guinness World Records, will make an appearance at the Indy 500 in Indianapolis, Ind., this month; the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn., in June; the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, N.Y., in June; Macy’s Herald Square in New York City in June; and the Wawa Welcome America Festival in Philadelphia in July.
“World Kitchen has been working hard to make this celebration larger than life, literally. It only made sense to bring the kick-off celebration to Charleroi, the town that has been the home of Pyrex glassware for more than 50 years. A town that, though small in number, is mighty and has brought quality products into the homes and kitchens of millions of Americans,” said Warschausky.
