Madden to Become Kirkland’s CEO
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Mike Madden, president and chief operating officer of Kirkland’s, will move up to president and CEO of the home specialty retailer on Feb. 8, succeeding the retiring Robert Alderson.
Also on that date, Adam Holland, vice president of finance and chief accounting officer, will assume the role of vice president and chief financial officer. All of these moves represent the completion of Kirkland’s management succession plan.
Madden has been with Kirkland’s since 2000. Before becoming president and chief operating officer last August, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Alderson will remain on Kirkland’s board after his retirement. He joined Kirkland’s in 1986, and has been CEO since 2006.
In a separate statement, Kirkland’s said net sales for its fourth quarter rose 14.5 percent to $178.7 million. For the fiscal year ending on Jan. 31, net sales totaled $507.6 million, up 10.2 percent. Same-store sales in the fourth quarter increased 8.2 percent, while for the year same-store sales rose 6.1 percent—with both figures including e-commerce sales.
