FRANKFURT, Germany — Messe Frankfurt’s Tendence opened here earlier today, showing attendees worldwide trends and products in home and gifts.
“We’re very optimistic about the show,” said Nicolette Naumann, vice president of Tendence. Show organizers expect approximately 75,000 attendees , about the same number as last year.
Naumann added that the climate of consumer consumption is more stable in Germany, so she’s looking forward to an uptick of German retailers at the show. Exhibitors, she said, have had a good year so far, so they “are optimistic as well.”
Among the themes at the show are nature, in such forms as mushrooms, deer and trees; traditional European looks that recall the Alps; and the Far East, including Buddhas. These themes “are connected to values,” Naumann said. “All of these trends are a little nostalgic.”
