Saint-Louis Draws from Tradition with New Beer Line

Luxury French crystal maker Saint-Louis is tapping the popularity of beer varietals with a new line of beer glasses inspired by the cristallerie’s beer services that were popular 200 years ago.

Les Confidents (The Confidents), the second introduction in the company’s Chaud/Froid line, is a collection of six beer glass patterns developed in partnership with the International Glass Art Centre of Meisenthal, which supports and promotes glass artists. 

Six artists reinterpreted traditional 19th century beer glass shapes from Saint-Louis’ archives and designed patterns that not only showcase the mouth-blown, hand-cut artistry of Saint-Louis, but also reflect a fresh, whimsical approach to crystal design. 

“We expect this collection to resonate with the U.S. consumer, who has proven to have a growing interest in beer, from the increased presence of beer gardens throughout the country, to increased attendance at beer festivals, to their appreciation, understanding and curiosity about all different types of beer,” said Charles-Henri Leroy, executive vice president of Saint-Louis.

Saint-Louis, which is owned by Hermes, will unveil the entire collection during the New York Tabletop Show next month, at its new showroom at Forty One Madison Avenue, Leroy said.

Each flute will retail for $415, mugs for $315. The glasses will be available open stock or in sets of two (one flute and one mug) or six (six flutes or six mugs).
