Richard Cohen to Unveil New Mariposa Line Next Week

MANCHESTER, Mass.-Alternative metal maker Mariposa is now represented by the Richard Cohen Collection in New Jersey; New York City and its boroughs; Westchester and Rockland counties; and Long Island.  New products will be featured in Richard Cohen’s permanent showroom at 7 West 34th Street during the tabletop market next week.

The company’s 2012 introductions reflect its “commitment to leading innovation,” the company said in a statement. “Our vibrant new CEO Stanley Reeve’s taking on the leadership role has enabled me to dedicate myself to Mariposa’s renaissance,” said Livia Cowan, company founder and president. “We playfully challenge the craftsmen to finesse the designs by combining texture and enamel, highlighting exquisite details with porcelain glazes while remaining committed to the beloved whimsy of our giftware.”

Reeve is focused on strengthening the distribution channels and continuing to build on Mariposa’s commitment to customer service, the company said. “Mariposa’s 98 percent fulfillment rate is rare in the industry and provides a practical benefit in challenging economic times. A focused SKU reduction program along with enhanced margins for retailers via a shift in MSRP will be announced in January,” Cowan said.

Market introductions range from a textured linen collection to Shelly Bradbury’s Oceanus, featuring a design of waves, bubbles and coral defined by aqua-colored glaze. Michael Updike has added pieces to his High Seas and Seaside collections. Mariposa’s Spring/Summer introductions will be available for delivery by collection throughout October, November and December.
