Oscar de la Renta Home Blooms with New Partnership
NEW YORK-Oscar de la Renta has created a new, limited-edition tabletop collection in collaboration with The New York Botanical Garden.
The collection consists of 20 pieces that celebrate the designer's passion for gardening and botanical patterns. The designer selected prints and engravings from rare 18th and 19th century botanical books to create the collection. Bold peonies and apple blossoms enliven cocktail, accent and dinner plates, and dahlia, magnolia and gardenia paperweights and salt and pepper shakers bring archival flowers and garden structures to life as three-dimensional items. The color scheme of indigo, vermillion, lettuce green, pink and ivory complement the existing Oscar de la Renta gift collection.
"When I think of Oscar de la Renta, my mind immediately travels to the gardens he created, his love of flowers, his sense of romance, and how this has influenced his collections and his houses," said Carolina Irving, creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home. "This collaboration is such a natural extension of who Oscar is and his great passion for gardens."
"The New York Botanical Garden's partnership with Oscar de la Renta represents an ideal pairing of sensibilities, melding historical elegance and contemporary design," said Richard Pickett, vice president for retail and business development, The New York Botanical Garden. "Oscar de la Renta's application of images from rare books in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library showcases the time-honored beauty of botanical artwork in a fresh and vibrant way."
The collection will be available this month at Oscar de la Renta boutiques, on oscardelarenta.com, at select retail locations, as well as through The New York Botanical Garden gift shop and website.
