Lladro Opens New NYC Boutique
The Lladro boutique
NEW YORK-Spanish porcelain maker Lladro officially opened the doors of its new boutique here yesterday, introducing a light, airy and welcoming space that reflects the more updated direction in which it is taking its products.
President Rosa Lladro, designer Jaime Hayon and the company's architect and creative team welcomed visitors to the boutique, located on the corner of Madison and 53rd Street. Marble and white laminate surfaces and shelving and LED-lit niches throughout the store showcase the range of Lladro products, from its traditional, finely detailed figurines to its latest collection of contemporary vases and lighting. Window walls and a wall of paneled mirrors invite the outside in. The design is a notable departure from the dark, museum-like space the company operated at its previous location on West 57th Street here.
"What we wanted to give Lladro is a new vision," Hayon said in his remarks yesterday. The company wants to communicate its decades of technological expertise and its craftsmanship alongside its understanding of today's lifestyle. "We're bringing Lladro into the 21st century with tradition but a new vibe," he said.
A soft opening last week and enthusiastic foot traffic along Madison Avenue has verified Lladro's new look, company officials said. The company plans to regularly rotate its collections to keep consumers engaged.
"I think we are in the right place," said Rosa Lladro.
