Lalique Decanter Raises $460K for Charity

20012
NEW YORK-Lalique decanter filled with The Macallan whiskey was sold at a Sotheby's auction for $460,000 earlier this week. All of the proceeds were donated to a charity that provides access to clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Laliques one-of-a kind crystal decanter, created using the "cire perdue" or "lost wax" method, contains the oldest and rarest Macallan ever bottled by the distillery, a 64-year-old single malt whiskey, according to a Lalique spokesperson. The whiskey-filled decanter has been on a 12-city world tour since April and has raised approximately $600,000 for the charitable organization, which is called charity: water.
