Although Josie Natori’s name has long been associated with lingerie, home is where her heart is.
Natori lights up when discussing her expanding home line, which now includes tabletop and gift pieces through a partnership with JLA Home.
“Home is always something I loved,” said the designer, an investment banker-turned-entrepreneur who toyed with making placemats before settling into lingerie. “I always believed there was a positioning for the brand in home,” Natori added, which is what led to the partnership with JLA and the creation of a bedding line four and a half years ago. When making the “natural transition” into hard goods this spring, Natori once again turned to JLA, because, she said, she likes to keep things “under one roof” and likes what JLA stands for in terms of luxury and quality.
Natori giftware includes a selection of one-of-a-kind accent pieces like an oversized dragon candelabra, a series of highly lacquered boxes that fit into a long rectangular tray, and two different styles of metal photo frames inspired by Natori’s love of antiquities and her East-meets-West design aesthetic. Natori giftware is meant to be “versatile, timeless and multi-use” and more about stand-alone pieces than sets of items. Five-piece place settings of dinnerware are not on the menu.
The line is geared toward high-end department stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and the online arm of Saks Fifth Avenue, and will be in stores in September. Tabletop price points range from $30 to $200, frames range from $80 to $180 and accent furniture and statuary range from $300 to $800.—Allison Zisko
