NEW YORK–Plans for The New York Tabletop Market, April 16-19, are well under way, at Forty One Madison Avenue.
From ground level up to the 24th floor, the 95-plus showrooms that represent more than 125 globally recognized brands already are abuzz, according to the show building’s operators, as they prepare to present new introductions and sales programs for the hundreds of retail buyers who attend the show from across North and Central Americas.
With several noteworthy showroom additions in the past year, Laurie Burns, Forty One Madison senior vice president and director, said the pull for buyers to attend the show is greater than ever: “In 2012, we welcomed Arc International, Hermès, Lladró, Ralph Lauren Home, Vista Alegre and Tzeng Shyng—brands that join an already impressive roster, and reaffirming that Forty One Madison is a one-stop resource for the who’s who of tabletop and giftware.”
Burns added that buyers should note a few showroom room moves, including Q Squared, which has relocated to the seventh floor, a move that doubled its space. Buyers also will find Royal Copenhagen in new quarters, having moved from the third to the 15th floor.
“The Family Meal: Returning to The Table” will be the topic of a breakfast seminar scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, from 8-9:15 a.m. Headlining this program are Laureen Barber, design director of Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture; Emma Mustich, who authors the Huffington Post blog, “The Family Dinner”; and Isabelle von Boch, North American spokesperson for Villeroy & Boch. Food & Wine magazine’s creative director, Stephen Scoble, will moderate.
Seminar attendees will have a chance to win a dinner for two to Blue Hill, and will have their choice to visit either the top-rated Greenwich Village location or experience the one at the Stone Barns farm in Westchester County, N.Y. The Knot will bring its unique perspective to the design of the Lobby Tables. This is a first-time partnership between the media group and Forty One Madison.
Interior Designer Day is planned for Thursday, April 18. It’s dedicated to professional interior designers and architects, inviting them to have direct access to the resources and company principals in the building. More than 30 showrooms currently participate in the program, and Editor-At-Large will film throughout the morning, tracking designers as they mine their discoveries and interviewing for the online website, editortv.com.
The Café on Level A will be open for business, dispensing complimentary bites and beverages for attendees. Hosted by Bridal Guide, it will be open Tuesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Wednesday, noon–4 p.m.; and Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
