The artistry and creativity of Mariano Fortuny, the 19th century designer, inventor, sculptor and photographer, will be brought to the table through a collaboration between Fortuny and high-end giftware manufacturer L’Objet.

The short but elegant gift line takes its inspiration from Fortuny fabrics and treatments, particularly the pleats in the Delphos gowns that Mariano Fortuny first introduced and made popular at the turn of the last century.

“We worked very hard to honor the authentic patterns, while developing beautiful new applications for them,” said Elad Yifrach, founder and creative director of L’Objet.

Co-branded with L’Objet, the Fortuny collection includes a suite of dessert and gold-trimmed earthenware canapé plates in four different colorways and designs that will be sold in sets of four, as well as other giftware items like platters, bowls and a tiered serving dish. Three different styles of   suede-backed photo frames feature layers of handpierced metal, plated in 24K gold or platinum; two sizes of gold-plated brass lanterns are pierced by hand; decorative boxes are upholstered in Fortuny fabric. The Fortuny Pleats Candle is not only housed in a gray bisque “pleated” ceramic cup, it is packaged in a cylindrical box covered in Fortuny fabric, reminiscent of the hatboxes women used to store their Fortuny-pleated gowns to preserve the pleats.

“We are really excited to see our fabrics and patterns expressed in a different medium, inspiring a new collection of timeless pieces,” said Mickey Riad, co-owner with Maury Riad, of Fortuny. “Seeing our patterns take on a new life through this collaboration with L’Objet is such a pleasure.”

The collection ranges in retail price from $75 for a small tidbit bowl to around $1,200 for the large lantern.
