NEW YORK—Dansk has signed a license agreement with Scandinavian designer Lotta Jansdotter for a porcelain dinnerware collection that will be sold exclusively at Bed, Bath and Beyond beginning in January.
Jansdotter, who was born in Sweden but now lives and has a studio in Brooklyn, has primarily been a textiles designer, though she also offers a melamine collection. Her design aesthetic is rooted in the Scandinavian landscape, but she creates products for a busy city lifestyle and exhibits “a cool, fun, fresh sense of design,” said Dansk President Glenn DeStefano.
The collection encompasses five dinnerware patterns that will be sold open stock or in four-piece place settings for $49.99, as well as a collection of mugs and bowls in eight different pattern and color combinations. DeStefano described it as an “eclectic mix, but it works together.
“We thought it was a nice match for Dansk,” he continued. “It gives us a fresh look in pattern.” The Scandinavian design influence is also true to Dansk’s brand heritage, he said.
