BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Enrique Ostale, president and CEO of Walmart Chile, has been appointed executive vice president, president and CEO of Walmart Latin America.
Ostale will oversee the retailer’s operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua when he assumes his new post on March 1. He will succeed Eduardo Solorzano, who will retire and continue to serve as chairman of Walmart De Mexico.
Ostale joined D&S, which later became Walmart Chile after the retailer acquired it, in 1989, serving in a number of finance and merchandising positions. He left D&S in 2000 to join El Mercurio Online, the website of Chile’s El Mercurio newspaper. He then rejoined D&S in 2006 as president and CEO, and then led the transition of D&S to Walmart Chile after the acquisition, in 2009.
