BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Daniel Trujillo has been named senior vice president and chief compliance officer for Walmart, a newly created position for the mass merchant.
Trujillo will be responsible for reviewing, assessing, and integrating Walmart’s compliance efforts outside of the United States when he begins his new role on Oct. 29. He will be “leveraging talent, resources and compliance best practices across our international markets; and (be) ensuring appropriate training, monitoring, education and audit of our international compliance functions,” according to Walmart.
Trujillo will join Walmart after 15 years with Schlumberger, where he served as deputy general counsel and director of compliance in his most recent post. His career also includes positions with WesternGeco, Cargill and Impregilo.
Walmart did not comment about press reports that Trujillo’s hiring is a response by Walmart to investigations into alleged bribery of local officials by executives at Walmart de Mexico.
