Walmart “12 Days of Giving” Facebook Campaign Provides Grants to Nonprofits

       

       

BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Walmart has donated $100,000 to 10 nonprofit organizations as part of its second annual “12 Days of Giving” campaign.

The 10 organizations were cited by the retailer for their work in providing food to children in local communities. The grants are part of more than $1.5 million Walmart intends to donate to 140 grant recipients in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., over the next 12 days.

The recipients were chosen from 21,677 nominations submitted in November by Facebook users. These submissions were initially reviewed by Walmart employees from across the country, and the winners were selected by a panel from the Walmart Foundation.

Feeding children was the focus of the first day of the campaign. The succeeding days will be centered on supporting seniors, honoring volunteers, recognizing the face of hunger, building a brighter future for children, supporting veterans and the military, job training, disaster relief, providing shelter, fighting hunger, medical and emotional support, and clothing donations.
