Tighe Promoted in J.C. Penney Merchandising Reshuffle
PLANO, Texas-J.C. Penney has reset the leadership of its home business, and has promoted John Tighe to senior vice president and general merchandise manager of the home area. Tighe, who joined J.C. Penney in 2002, had previously served as senior vice president of jcp.com. He reports to Steven Lawrence, executive vice president and senior general merchandise manager of J.C. Penney's men's and children's sectors, who has now been given responsibility for the home business as well.
Tighe will also join the retailer's executive board. Lawrence, who joined the retailer in 2000, was named executive vice president and senior merchandise manager of men's and children's late last year. The moves are part of a redeployment of J.C. Penney's merchandising areas. Elizabeth Sweney, executive vice president and senior merchandise manager of women's apparel, women's accessories and shoes, has added fine jewelry to her product responsibilities.
Jeffrey Allison, who had recently been named to head the home and fine-jewelry businesses, has left the company for personal reasons, according to a J.C. Penney statement.
