NEW YORK–Martha Stewart has been elected to the board of directors of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO), the company she founded in the 1970s.

With Stewart’s selection, the board has been expanded to nine members. In an MSLO statement, Charlotte Beers, chairman of the nominating and corporate governance committee, said Stewart is “indispensable to shaping the company’s future and creating value for shareholders.”

Stewart said, “We have created an amazingly strong brand and brand loyalty, and we intend to make each of our businesses match the strengths of that brand.”
