PLANO, Texas-J.C. Penney has promoted Paul Rutenis to general merchandise manager for its home division.
Rutenis has assumed leadership over the retailer’s home merchandise teams, with a special charge to re-energize its home business, according to a company statement. He reports to Liz Sweney, chief merchant.
Rutenis succeeds John Tighe, who has been named general merchandise manager of the company’s men’s division.
Before assuming his new role, Rutenis, who joined J.C. Penney last year, was divisional merchandise manager of furniture and decorative accessories. His retailing career also includes merchandising positions with Dick’s Sporting Goods and May Department Stores.
