DUBLIN, Calif.-Barbara Rentler, Ross Stores’ president and chief merchandising officer, will succeed Michael Balmuth as the retailer’s CEO on June 1.
As announced in August 2012, Balmuth, who is also the company’s vice chairman, will become executive chairman on that date and continue to play an active role in its management. In addition, current Chairman Norman Ferber will become chairman emeritus. Michael O’Sullivan will continue as president and chief operating officer, and both Rentler and O’Sullivan will join the company’s board on June 1.
Rentler has been with Ross since 1986. She rose to become executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of the dd’s Discounts segment in 2005, and the following year, she was named executive vice president of merchandising of Ross Dress for Less. She was promoted to president and chief merchandising officer in 2009.
Also, Ross has promoted Lisa Panattoni, group executive vice president, to president and chief merchandising officer of Ross Dress for Less. Panattoni, whose appointment also takes effect on June 1, will assume responsibility for all home businesses, men’s junior sportswear, lingerie and cosmetics. She will report to Rentler.
Bernard Brautigan, executive vice president, will be become group executive vice president of merchandising of Ross Dress for Less, also on June 1. Brautigan will oversee ladies apparel, children’s shoes, accessories and jewelry. He will also report to Rentler.
