ATLANTA–Robert Schuler has been appointed AMC officer in charge of all housing services for all of AmericasMart Atlanta markets as well as the AMC-managed Lightfair International.
Schuler joined AmericasMart in June 2010 and directs the operation of The Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, which secures and services conventions, conferences, meetings and special events staged in the 7.2 million-square-foot complex’s exhibit halls, theatres and public spaces during non-market periods. His responsibilities have now expanded to encompass the provision of housing services to AmericasMart market attendees, who annually occupy as many as 247,000 Atlanta hotel room-nights, and to attendees of Lightfair International, a leading annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference in alternating east- and west-coast venues.
Before joining AmericasMart, Schuler was vice president/sales and director of sales and services division at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“Of the many services we provide our legions of customers in Atlanta and beyond, convenient and accessible housing ranks as a huge factor driving overall satisfaction,” said Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president and chief operating officer of AmericasMart Atlanta and its AMC, Inc. parent entity. “Bob’s expert leadership in anticipating growing customer demand for housing and securing accommodations with our hotelier partners here and in Lightfair destination cities makes all the difference in our customers’ market experience.”
AmericasMart maintains relationships with more than 46 hotel properties housing customers attending its 13 annual markets and shows and non-market events and programs staged throughout the year. Lightfair International, for which AMC is managing partner, produces large room-night occupancies in Las Vegas and its eastern host cities, most recently in Philadelphia, where its 2011 edition delivered record attendance in May, the company said.
