NEW YORK -The New York Design Center and The Alpha Workshops will host the fifth annual Masquerade Ball, a costumed evening benefitting the Alpha Workshops, on Oct. 27, 2010.
With support from the design industry, this year's goal is to raise $100,000 for The Alpha Workshops Studio School, which trains creative people living with HIV in the decorative arts field. The past four years have raised over $300,000 for The Alpha Workshops.
This year's theme, "Le Vrai et Le Faux Chic," references the work of artist George Goursat, also known as SEM, who's imaginative and insightful portrayals of Paris Society at the turn of the 20th century were celebrated for their wit and whimsy. The Masquerade Ball will offer a night of music, dancing, food and framed photograph takeaways. Tickets are $125 in advance, and $150 at the door, with all proceeds directly benefiting The Alpha Workshops Studio School.
"The Masquerade Ball is a rare opportunity for the design industry to join together for a fun-filled evening while raising much needed funds for The Alpha Workshops, a charitable organization rooted in design. This year more than ever, we appreciate the generous contributions from our friends in the design community who continue to support the Masquerade Ball," said Jim Druckman, president and chief executive officer of the New York Design Center.
