MINNEAPOLIS—Yesterday’s launch of the Missoni for Target program led to a temporary crash of the retailer’s website, according to a Target spokeswoman.
Along with apparel, the line includes bedding, luggage, dinnerware, stationery, bicycles and outdoor furniture. “Due to the overwhelming amount of traffic to target.com as a result of the Missoni for Target launch, our website was inaccessible throughout portions of the day,” the spokeswoman said. “Target.com saw greater item demand than we do on a typical Black Friday and the excitement for this limited-time designer collection is unprecedented.”
The spokeswoman added that Missoni for Target items—particularly bedding, bath and luggage items—were among the first to sell out at Target’s pop-up store event last Thursday in New York City.
