NEW YORK-ESL Investments, majority shareholder of Sears Holdings, has named G. “Mike” Mikan president.
Mikan, who officially took his post yesterday, reports directly to Edward S. Lampert, ESL’s chairman and CEO, and chairman of Sears Holdings. He served as interim CEO of Best Buy from April-September 2012, and was a member of the Best Buy board of directors since 2008. He resigned from the retailer’s board on Dec. 26.
His career also includes 14 years in various executive positions at UnitedHealth Group, including executive vice president and chief financial officer, and CEO of the company’s Optum subsidiary.
