DALLAS-J.C. Penney has made a number of executive moves to put in place a new operations team.
The retailer has named Bob Peterson, a former Piper Jaffray executive, to the newly created post of senior vice president of operational strategy. In this role, Peterson is responsible for identifying and evaluating key business opportunities and strategic alliances. He reports to Mike Kramer, chief operating officer, and Ken Hannah, chief financial officer.
In addition, Thorsten Weber has been promoted to senior vice president of merchandising planning allocation, continuing his prior responsibilities of leading J.C. Penney’s merchandising planning and allocation efforts. Also, Vaneet Grover has been appointed senior vice president of procurement, responsible for the procurement functions. Both Weber and Grover report to Kramer.
The company has also named Eric Cerny vice president of investor relations, reporting to Kristin Hays, senior vice president of communications. Cerny is in charge of maintaining an environment of transparency and open dialogue with shareholders and the investment community.
The J.C. Penney statement announcing these appointments also mentioned, as reported by HFN last week, the promotion of Paul Rutenis to senior vice president and general merchandise manager of the home division. It added, also as reported by HFN, the naming of John Tighe, who previously held
Rutenis’ posts, as general merchandise manager of the men’s division, and the appointment of Preston Moxcey as divisional merchandise manager of men’s clothing and accessories.
