Guion to Retire from Dollar General
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.-Kathleen Guion, division president of store operations and store development for Dollar General, will retire from the company effective July 31, 2012.
An eight-year veteran of the discount retailer, Guion took her current post in November 2005. She oversaw Dollar General's more than 9,500 stores in 35 states, and a company statement credited her with revamping the retailer's real-estate strategy. Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO, said Guion "has provided effective and innovative leadership of store operations and store development during a period of tremendous growth for Dollar General."
Guion will continue in her current role through Dec. 31 while the company conducts a search for her successor and transitions her store-operation duties. From Jan. 1, 2012, through her retirement, she will oversee the transition of her real-estate growth and development responsibilities, and assist Dollar General in strategic planning.
