CORTE MADERA, Calif.-Gary Friedman has reassumed the roles of chairman and co-CEO of Restoration Hardware.
Friedman, previously chairman emeritus, creator and curator, serves as co-CEO along with Carlos Alberini, who has been named co-CEO as well. The two men previously served as co-CEOs from June 2010, when Alberini joined Restoration Hardware, to October 2012. At that time, Alberini was named CEO and Friedman assumed the chairman emeritus, creator and curator posts.
In returning as chairman, Friedman has succeeded Michael Chu, whose immediate plans were not announced in a Restoration Hardware statement. Chu said Friedman and Alberini are “a tremendous team” who “together have made significant contributions to the success of the company.”
In addition, Restoration Hardware said it will be developing a new brand called RH Atelier, consisting of luxury apparel, accessories, footwear and jewelry. The new brand will have its own catalog and be integrated into the company’s design galleries and website. No launch date was given for the brand.
