Dollar General Store Count Hits 10,000

       

       

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.-Dollar General’s store count now stands at 10,000, with the opening of its location in Merced, Calif., last week.

This store is one of the first the dollar-store retailer has opened in the Golden State, and gives it a coast-to-coast presence for the first time. The company now has stores in 39 states overall.

Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO, described the store’s opening as “a meaningful day for all of us.” Dreiling added, “This milestone reiterates our commitment to bringing unmatched convenience and value to customers across the nation.”

Dollar General’s first store opened in Springfield, Ky., in 1955.
