MINNEAPOLIS-Best Buy has restructured its U.S. business into groups focused on retail channels, product categories and support functions.
The selling end of the business has been split into online and retail. Stephen Gillett, president of digital and marketing, will continue to lead the online segment, while Shawn Score has been named to lead the U.S. retail channel.
The product sector has been divided into three groups—connectivity, home and services. Jude Buckley has been promoted to head the connectivity group, succeeding Shawn Score. Mike Mohan and George Sherman will continue to oversee home and services, respectively.
The support area includes human resources, finance, legal and marketing. Their current leaders remain in place.
These changes will take effect on Jan. 1, 2013. All of these groups report directly to Hubert Joly, who became Best Buy’s president and CEO in early September, in this phase of the retailer’s transformation. Meanwhile, Mike Vitelli, current president of the U.S. business, will retire at the end of the fiscal year on Feb. 2, 2013. In addition, Tim Sheehan, executive vice president of U.S. operations, will leave Best Buy at the end of this month.
