ATLANTA–Ballard Designs, the multichannel retailer for European home furnishings and accents, has launched an application that enables consumers to browse and shop its catalog on their iOS smart devices.
Called Ballard+, the trademarked app uses image recognition technology to provide the user with a digital experience from the pages of the catalog. The user holds his or her iPhone or iPad above the page of the catalog to activate the app. A box that encompasses each item on the page then appears on the screen, and the user taps an item in the box for the desired information.
A purchase button also appears on the screen, which the user taps to immediately direct items in the shopping cart to ballarddesigns.com for check-out. Ballard+ is compatible with the iPhone 4/4S and 5, the iPad2, the iPad with retina display and the iPad Mini. It is available for the Ballard Designs December 2012 Early Winter issue, with more to be added in the future.
