HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.-Paul DePodesta, vice president of player development and amateur scouting for the New York Mets, has been elected to the Sears Holdings’ board of directors.
DePodesta’s election has increased the number of Sears Holdings’ directors to eight. Edward Lampert, Sears Holdings’ chairman, cited DePodesta’s “strong analytical skills and talent assessment acumen.”
A statement from the company said DePodesta’s “unique approach in assembling Major League Baseball teams has transformed how teams evaluate, measure and value talent.”
Before joining the Mets, DePodesta served as executive vice president of the San Diego Padres, executive vice president and general manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers and assistant general manager of the Oakland Athletics. He also served in front-office positions with the Cleveland Indians.
