NESQUEHONING, Pa.–Under its sister corporation Mt. Summit Lighting, E.L.K. Lighting has acquired Nulco Lighting, a Rhode Island-based lighting manufacturer that was founded in 1946. Over the next four week period, E.L.K. will move Nulco’s operations to E.L.K.’s headquarters here, it said in a release. The company expects to resume order fulfillment by August 15.
Nulco’s strength is in its crystal and restoration categories, Bradford Smith, CEO, E.L.K. Lighting, told HFN. “These strong attributes fit very well into our overall offering as we plan to continue expansion in the restoration category and look to give a greater focus to crystal.”
Much of Nulco’s product offering and best-selling items were produced overseas, so a large portion of Nulco product “will quickly be ordered and moved to an in-stock status as we look to continue those overseas relationships while also providing additional focus to develop production options for other items existing or to be launched through Nulco in the future,” Smith said. “Our intent is to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nulco brand that customers have grown accustomed to.”
Smith added that Nulco had a temporary shutdown of about three months earlier this year while it tried to assess its options going forward.
With the addition of Nulco, the E.L.K. Lighting group of companies now offers more than 5,000 SKUs in lighting fixtures, furniture, decorative accessories, lamps and mirrors. E.L.K customers now have the option to combine orders with its other brands — which include Dimond, Landmark and Sterling — to unlock additional cost saving opportunities. E.L.K.’s last acquisition was in May, when it bought Artistic Lighting and Design.
