Dyson
Sir James Dyson, inventor of the cyclonic-separation vacuum, has done it again. Last month, he unveiled two fans that use his trademarked Air Multiplier technology—the AM02 Tower (pictured here) and the AM02 Pedestal, both floor models. Air Multiplier technology is designed to create an uninterrupted breeze of cool air in larger spaces. The fans take air in through the base and force it into a loop multiplier, which then accelerates the air through the aperture, thus creating a jet of air that hugs the air foil-shaped ramp. At the same time, air surrounding the unit is forced into the air stream, thus amplifying the total air flow. dyson.com
Holmes
The Holmes 12-inch Oscillating Table Fan provides “a reliable and dependable cooling solution for consumers during the hot and muggy weather,” according to a statement from Jarden Consumer Solutions, parent company of the Holmes brand. It is designed with a 12-inch, five-paddle blade setup that makes it ideal for use in either a bedroom or a living room, and its small size enables it to be placed on a table or a desk. It has three speeds and an oscillating motion, which gives it coverage over a wide area. Its tilt adjustable head allows the user to control the direction of air flow. Its updated design includes a metal front grill, which allows it to blend anywhere in a user’s living area, and the carry handle makes it easily portable. jardencs.com
