CHICAGO–Several lighting manufacturers—including Murray Feiss, WAC Lighting, Bulbrite, Fanimation, Hinkley Lighting, and Schonbek—have banded together to set a goal to raise at least $50,000 from the lighting industry for The H Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for cancer research.
The foundation will hold its tenth annual Goombay Bash on Aug. 7 at the Grand Ballroom at Chicago’s Navy Pier. Named after the Caribbean cocktail Goombay Smash, the event will feature a gourmet buffet, live music and dancing, silent and live auctions, fireworks, and raffle prizes, including a live drawing for $10,000. Last year, the fundraiser raised $450,000 and more than 1,000 people attended.
“Our fundraiser has totally taken on a life of its own. We wanted it to be a party and a celebration,” said John Rot, co-owner of Horton’s Home Lighting and founder of the H Foundation. “We’re taking the auctions to a new level and have brought in some technology that most people would not have seen at any other fundraiser.”
