FRIANT, Calif.-Dow Polyurethanes has signed on to the Green Initiative formed by the Specialty Sleep Association.
This effort was begun by SSA to create and set definitions, terms and standards for the labeling of “green” products in the bedding industry.
According to the SSA Web site, sleepinformation.org, the initiative’s ultimate goals could include the formulation of a standard and certification program based on the definitions for terms such as “green,” “natural,” “all-natural” and “organic.”
Dale Read, president of SSA, said it’s important for the association to work with global suppliers and manufacturers, and with smaller green boutique companies, to create an industrywide consensus for green labeling standards.
