NEW YORK–Interior designer and former The Learning Channel and HGTV host Chayse Dacoda has partnered up with Jaipur Rugs for a collection of rugs to be released next fall. This is the beginning of Dacoda’s licensing strategy, as well as the first specific designer collection for Jaipur.
“I’m in love with this company,” said Dacoda about Jaipur, which is “phenomenal in how they treat artisans.” Known for her modern, clean design, Dacoda wants to incorporate cultural influences from around the world into her new collection, which will have both wool and silk items, as well as all-wool ones, and at several price points.
“Chayse does inspiring work and her marketing strategy touches a lot of consumers that fit our brand,” Asha Chaudhary, chief executive officer, Jaipur, told HFN. “Her work embodies style, sophistication and a youthful energy that aligns very well with us.”
The Jaipur partnership is the first license for Dacoda, and other categories such as lighting and textiles will follow with other companies, the former host of TLC’s While You Were Out and HGTV’s Get It Together said. But the rug category was a good place for Dacoda to start. “I’m a big flooring person,” she said. “It sets the tone for everything else in the room.”
Chaudhary said that Jaipur is planning to announce other designer collections within the next six months.
